B.[Co-organized by the Maison franco-japonaise]“After the Spectacle” of the Landscape

WATANABE Toshiya, 2011/06/12_2012/06/10 dogs, 2011-2012

Back in 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake brought along changes in the landscapes of some regions in northeastern Japan. What do we mean when we talk about “landscapes” in the first place, and how have they been perceived in Japan? This event brings together a researcher with profound knowledge related to the concept of the “landscape” in Japan and Europe, and a photographer who grew up in Fukushima and continued to take photos in the region after the quake. Together they discuss how landscapes have changed, and how they are likely to change also in the future.
