This program takes departures from rule-bound structures as its central theme, presenting three moving-image works in which sonic exploration draws out the multi-layered overtones latent in society. Ghost Forest Flower centers on the ways diverse beings within an ecosystem respond to and remember their environments; Despair to be reborn stages resistance to accelerating urban life and social systems; and Syncope traces the multicultural disjunctions that run through past, present, and future. Making visible the contradictions of contemporary society, the program invites us to reconsider the norms and boundaries that shape the intersecting environments we inhabit.
