The Koga family, with a Deaf father and brother, clashes with a newly arrived Kurdish family. Natsumi and Hiwa interpret for their families, but as they grow closer, the conflict soon spreads to the whole community.
A film by the director of CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), in Japanese Sign Language and Kurdish, this comedy cynically portrays the divides created by language disparities within Japanese society.
The production cast actors whose first language matched their characters’, ensuring that none of the linguistic charm was lost.
This subtitled film is intended for both Deaf and Hearing audiences.
