exonemo is an artist duo formed by Sembo Kensuke and Akaiwa Yae. Since beginning their activities on the Internet in 1996, they have explored the physicality and emotions of human beings in the networked age, crossing digital/analog media with a critical yet humorous approach. In 2006, they received the Golden Nica at Prix Ars Electronica, and in 2021, they were awarded The Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Art Encouragement Prize for New Artists. In 2020, they held the solo exhibition “exonemo UN-DEAD-LINK” at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum. They are currently based in New York.
