KAWADE Yoshie
Yoshie Kawade is Professor of History of Political Thought at the Open University of Japan, Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, Japan and Delegated Director of Maison Franco-Japonaise. She is the author of two books written in Japanese: Aristocracy and Commerce: Montesquieu and the Problem of Despotism (1996) and The Pursuit of Peace: Cosmopolitanism and Patriotism in Eighteenth-Century France (2023). Her papers, written in English, include “Liberty and the Rule of Law,” in A Cultural History of Democracy, vol. 4, (2021).
