Working with 16mm film, archival footage and poetic montage, London-based artist Morgan Quaintance brings voices from the margins of history, aspects of his own biography and the formal practices of experimental film into view through the intersections of image, sound, and narration. His practice, which at times focuses on fragments of history that appear and vanish seemingly at random within individual and collective consciousness, has garnered growing international attention, including the Film London Jarman Prize in 2025. In dialogue with the theme of the Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions 2026, this programme presents a carefully selected group of six short and medium-length works that embody the polyphonic interplay of language and rhythm, and the musical structuring of moving images that characterise his work.
