HOU I-Ting, All the Ladies–Embroidery of Meaning, The Song Continues

All the Ladies, 2015

Working by embroidering onto photographs and moving-image works, Hou I-Ting has developed a practice that stitches together past and present. At Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions 2026, she returns to All the Ladies, taking up its deliberately unfinished surface once more and continuing to embroider. Onto this evolving ground, she brings together Japanese songs from the 1960s and their Taiwanese lyrics, sung by a vocalist. Through this interplay of image, embroidery, and song, new constellations of meaning emerge within a layered space.
