HOKIMOTO Sora
Born in Saitama in 1992, Hokimoto is a film director, musician, and novelist. A graduate of Tama Art University’s Department of Moving Images and Performing Arts, he studied under Aoyama Shinji while still a student. After graduating, he made his film debut with <i>Haruneko</i>, produced by Aoyama, for which he served as director, screenwriter, and composer. In 2019, he formed the band Bialystocks, which made its major-label debut in 2022. In 2023, he also made his literary debut with the novel <i>Visit Me in My Dreams (Hadaka no Yume)</i>.
Selected exhibitions include “TOP 30th Anniversary Thoughts of a Distant Window: Contemporary Japanese Photography vol. 22” (Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, 2025) and “ARTIST FOCUS #04: Sora Hokimoto, inter face, 1991–2021” (The Museum of Art, Kochi, 2023). Selected films include <i>BAUS: The Ship’s Voyage Continues</i> (2025), <i>Visit Me in My Dreams</i> (2022), and <I>Haruneko</i> (2016).
