Cameron L. WHITE
Cameron L. White is a writer and academic with an abiding interest in languages and their impact on how people engage with media. Most of his research centers on the relationship among Mandarin, Cantonese, and Taiwanese as expressed through cinema, but he has also studied Japanese and Korean and is curious about cultural flows across East Asia. He is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Michigan, completing a dissertation on the history of film localization in Taiwan. He writes in English and Chinese, with articles in publications such as Film Quarterly, Film Appreciation (《電影欣賞》), United Daily News (《聯合報》), and Sputnik: Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival Reader. He also co-hosts the podcast Chatty Cantonese (粵語白白講) with Raymond Pai at the University of British Columbia.
