Stone and Sun: Last Things, The Little Girl Who Sold the Sun

Deborah STRATMAN, Last Things, 2023

Last Things explores the perspective of rocks, taking J.H. Rosny’s novellas as a starting point. Oddly sensual scientific schema and fictional texts present a narrative of evolution and extinction, while the geo-biosphere is introduced as a place of evolutionary possibility. Here, stone is an anchor, and to touch stone is to meet alien duration. Telling the story of Siri, a girl on crutches who fearlessly enters a world of boys and resists the rules of the street to make a living selling the “Le Soleil” (The Sun) newspaper, The Little Girl Who Sold the Sun is also a hymn to the courage of street children.
