NAKAYA Fujiko

Born in Hokkaido, Nakaya Fujiko lives and works in Tokyo. She created her first “Fog Sculpture” for the Pepsi Pavilion at Expo ’70 in Osaka. She has since made works using pure water fog to create environmental sculptures, installations, parks, and performances all over the world. In 1972, Nakaya was a founding artist of Video Hiroba, Japan’s first video artist collective. She opened Video Gallery SCAN in 1980 and has been recognized as a pioneer of video art in Japan.
