IKEZOE Shun, What is it that you said?, 2021/ 20 min. / Dialogue in Japanese and Chinese (with English and Japanese subtitles)

The idea behind this program is to highlight the personal struggles of human individuals under the influence of other people, natural disasters, social systems, and other forces that humans are subjected to. The Poet and Singer is the result of Bi Gan’s attempt to combine imagery and poetry to describe the transformations of Gairi, a town in the Chinese province of Guizhou. In Night Train, Kawazoe Aya observes the daily lives of couples living under some sort of invisible external pressure. Saitoh Eri has been trying to grasp the connections between awareness and action, and differences in perception, and to illustrate the ambiguity of existence. Here she presents some of her previous works that reflect the various aspects of her creative endeavors, recombined into a cinema screening program. In What is it that you said?, Ikezoe Shun shares his own experiences with the viewer, in the form of personal memories refined into a movie that observes – through the “windows” of multiple collaborators – the world around and at once also inside himself.
