Buyer Walker Rover (Yiwu) Aka. There Then

The Chinese city of Yiwu is known for its large commodity wholesale markets that attract buyers from around the world. In this work, a character named Ana (Ulman herself) visits Yiwu to purchase goods for her husband’s one-dollar-shop back home in Guatemala. While mixing with the international crowd of buyers, Ana dreams at once of utilizing her language skills to find employment in China. Filmed in a selfie style, the movie combines a variety of visual effects and elements that appear rather cheap and meaningless at a glance. The screen overflows with excessive visual information, including scenes and goods at the wholesale market, and subtitles that seem to copy labels on imported products.
