Kuzoku + Studio Ishi + YCAM

The filmmaking group Kuzoku is gaining attention in Japan and other countries for its unique style. This is their first video installation.
Writing their own scripts based on research and field work, they have been making films which cannot be categorized as fiction or
non-fiction. This work was produced by Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media (YCAM), Kuzoku and Studio Ishi (which filmed the
original movie) and featured as volume two, part of the “YCAM Film Factory,” a film-making project series by YCAM. Hidden Journey
of a Thousand Miles by JRP
is a work that plays multiple roles. It is a depiction, re-edited from a different angle as a film installation,
of the route through Thailand and Laos traveled by the main characters of Kuzoku’s new feature-length film, Bangkok Nites. It is also a
“making of” film and a different version of Bangkok Nites. Through the cityscapes portrayed in the film, we see more clearly the regional
background circumstances of Thailand and Laos that could not be fully depicted in the original film.
