Ma holds a doctorate in Film and New Media Studies at Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts, and is currently a senior assistant professor at School of Global Japanese Studies at Meiji University, a visiting scholar at Tama Art University, and a correspondent for the Korean art magazine, Wolganmisool. Her recent publications include A Critical History of Media Art in Japan (Artes Publishing, 2014), “Exhibition Spaces Emitting Light and Sound: Contemporary Art and Image Media” and Seiko Mikami: A Critical Reader (NTT Publishing, 2019).
