上田学 UEDA Manabu

UEDA Manabu

Born in 1979 in Chiba Prefecture. Part-time
lecturer at Nihon University College of Art
and other universities. His fields of specialism
are film and media studies. He is engaged
in research into silent movies from the
perspective of reception theory, with a primary
focus on non-film materials. His books include
Exhibitions and Audiences in the Early Years
of Japanese Cinema: Focus on Tokyo and Kyoto
(Waseda University Press, 2012) and the coauthored
Asakusa Art and Literature Handbook
(Bensei Publishing, 2016).
