KANNO received a Ph.D. in visual studies from the University of California, Irvine.
She is an Associate Professor at the Graduate
School of Global Studies, Doshisha University,
where she teaches in the areas of film and
visual culture, as well as queer studies.
Her research explores the issues of gender,
sexuality, and race in moving images and
contemporary art practices.
