Dance critic, Associate Professor at Gunma
Prefectural Women’s University, and
choreographer. His current research interests
are the global history of dance in the 20th
century, with a focus on Asia, and the theory
of postcolonial choreography. MUTO is the
co-author of Choreography and Corporeality
(Palgrave Macmillan, 2016). His papers
include “Strategy of Anti-spectacle in Yvonne
Rainer’s Trio A” in the Bulletin of Gunma
Prefectural Women’s University, No.30, 2009,
among others.
