Helga FANDERL

Helga FANDERL, born in Ingolstadt,
Germany in 1947, studied languages and
literature in Munich, Paris and Frankfurt. In
the mid-80s she discovered the Super8 camera
for herself and accomplished art studies at
Städelschule in Frankfurt in 1992 and Cooper
Union in New York. Since 1990 she has been
presenting her Super8 films in changing
programs using a projector set up in the
auditorium, thus creating new live experiences
each time. Her films are shown worldwide in
film museums, cinemas, exhibition spaces and
art galleries. Programs with 16mm copies
of her work have been shown among other
places at Media City Film Festival, Windsor/Ontario; New York Film Festival, Toronto
International Film Festival and International
Short Film Festival Oberhausen. She has also
presented selected films in exhibitions and
installations: “Fragil(e),” Städtische Galerie
Erlangen, 2007; “Nuits Èlectriques,” Moscow
House of Photography Museum/Multimedia
Art Museum, Moscow and LABoral Centro
de Arte y Creación Industrial, Gijón, 2011;
Kunstverein Ingolstadt, 2014, Das Esszimmer,
