大野松雄 OHNO Matsuo

OHNO Matsuo

Born in 1930 in Tokyo. After a period with the theater company Bungakuza, Ohno went on to produce sound for many films and early television programs, and firmly established his position as a sound designer. For the animated TV series Astro Boy, he created new forms of sound expression through effects using electronic sound; and the sounds he created remain influential to this day. He has since been active in a variety of fields including exhibition sound design, animation, documentary films, and science films. As his life ’s work, Ohno has been closely involved in the Momiji-Azami residence, a facility for people with intellectual disabilities. For over 40 years he has continued to develop this relationship, which transcends the boundary between public and private.
