The poor farmer Youtie and the shy Guiying, both having been abandoned by their families, get married by arrangement. The pair cling to each other and to their land, on which they grow crops and build a house, but in the course of their modest life, they are increasingly exposed to the waves of the changing times. This is a story about eternal love, in which the word “love” isn’t mentioned even once.
